Rapper of the Year at the 2017 Ghana Music Awards, M.anifest has revealed his list of top five rappers in Ghana and Sarkodie did not make the list. Born Kwame Ametepee Tsikata, M.anifest’s top five rappers in Ghana include Kofi Kinaata, Joey B and Yaa Pono. Ghana’s fastest rapper Sarkodie was absent in the list but that may not come as a surprise to many given the controversy between the two rappers in the recent past. M.anifest and Sarkodie were engaged in one of the biggest rap beefs Ghana has ever witnessed in 2016. M.anifest, in his ‘godMC’ track, took digs at Sarkodie after he released his ‘Bossy’ song. Sarkodie also quickly replied M.anifest in his ‘Kanta’ track. The controversy generated by the two rappers raged on for several weeks, generating a lot of public debate in the process. Contemporary highlife act Bisa KDei is set to drop a new joint this August. It comes after the release of “Feelings” featuring MAVIN act Reekado Banks. He made this announcement via his Twitter handle. The record is titled “Sister Girl”, and is off his forthcoming third album Konnect album. Bisa KDei is managed by Black Legendary Music, he’s winner of three VGMA awards, and has been associated with elite colleagues including Efya, Castro, Fuse ODG, Kwaw Kese, Sarkodie, Daddy Lumba, and Becca.

Multi award winning Ghanaian dancehall artist Stonebwoy will join Nigeria’s very own Wizkid for the 2017 BET Experience Main stage event scheduled for June 25 2017. The news was made known by the BET International on Thursday June 22 2017 via its Instagram account. This confirms an earlier hint Stonebwoy’s manager dropped on Facebook a few days ago. Aside the performance, the 2015 BET Award winner for Best International Act, Africa goes in again as a nominee in the same category in this year’s edition of the awards. He has been nominated alongside AKA (South Africa), BABES WODUMO (South Africa), DAVIDO (Nigeria), NASTY C (South Africa), TEKNO (Nigeria), WIZKID (Nigeria) and MR EAZI (Nigeria). The 2017 BET Awards will air live on Sunday, June 25 from Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles at 8 P.M. ET

New sensation, Kurl Songx and the most decorated Ghanaian artist of all time, Sarkodie, have wrapped the music video shoot for the banging tune at the moment, ‘Jennifer Lomotey’. The video was shot by the highly-experienced firm, Gorilla Films, and the various beautiful locations in the towns of Sandton, Gauteng and Johannesburg, all in South Africa, were used. The highly anticipated music video is expected to be released by next week, under Highly Spiritual Music (HSM) label, with support from Steaman Entertainment and Blaq Standard Management. The second edition of The Cypher, an online platform which aims at unearthing raw talents starts on Tuesday, June 6. The Cypher is designed to give six up and coming artistes the opportunity to showcase their talents to a wide range of music lovers and audience every month. Representatives from Scratch Studios and Entertainment Limited in Accra will be in Cannes, France, from Tuesday, June 6 to Friday, June 9 for this year’s Marché International du Disque et de l'Edition Musicale (Midem). Several musicians, producers, agents, managers, lawyers, executives, entrepreneurs and journalists from around the globe are also expected to attend the annual event held since 1967. It is billed as one of the world’s biggest meetings of music professionals. The East Legon-based entertainment company last year assisted rapper Koo Ntakra to become the first Ghanaian artiste to feature in the Midem Accelerator Programme which is a platform for artistes to show their talents, book agents and top guns from the global music industry. Rapper, singer and songwriter, M.anifest, has been accepted to perform at this year’s programme. Through the influence of Scratch, the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA).

The Coke Studio project continues to provide a bigger platform for African artistes and it will be the turn of Highlife artiste, Bisa Kdei and sound producer, Kill Beatz when the next edition comes off in September.
